Hebe Goddess of Youth Life-Size Statue Water Feature 65" High
Graceful, serene, and eternally youthful, Hebe was the Greek goddess of youth and the daughter of Zeus and Hera. She served as cupbearer to the Olympian gods, presenting nectar and ambrosia at their celestial feasts. This classical sculpture is inspired by the celebrated Hebe created by Danish Neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. Thorvaldsen produced an early version of Hebe in 1806–1807 and later created a closely related version in 1816. Examples are preserved in the collection of the Thorvaldsen's Museum in Copenhagen.
Shown in softly draped Grecian robes, Hebe holds a ceremonial cup in one hand and an urn in the other. The calm expression, balanced pose, and flowing folds reflect the refined ideals of European Neoclassical sculpture.
